VAIL – The Vilar Performing Arts Center will be host a fall “singer/songwriter” series in Colorado’s Vail Valley at the Beaver Creek theater.

With the recent addition of award-winning troubadour Ellis Paul on Nov. 12, the series is rounded out with psychedelic rockers Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams on Sept. 26 and Vienna Teng on Oct. 24. Tickets for all three shows are $45, with individual tickets available for each show as well.

“We have such a keen awareness of the year-round local crowd in the valley, as well as the visitors that come to town at all times of the year, and we want to provide them with world-class entertainment even in the slower months” said Vilar Performing Arts Center Executive Director Kris Sabel. “We also know that fall is a value season for many people in this community. That’s why we’ve decided to present such outstanding artists at approachable ticket prices. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

And, Sabel said, some of the Vilar Center’s audience favorites in past years have been rising stars in the singer/songwriter genre that came here in the fall months.

“Jackie Greene in 2007 was a huge hit, and Martin Sexton last September was also an audience favorite,” Sabel said. “I can assure you that these three shows will be exceptional evenings of music. And in the intimate setting of the Vilar Center, the talents of these three incredible music acts will truly shine.”

The series kicks off with Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams on Saturday, Sept. 26. The band performed at the Vilar Center in winter 2008, and quickly became an audience favorite. Their psychedelic rock blends a unique storytelling style with a distinct folk-rock sound, and promises to be the can’t-miss encore show of the season. Individual tickets for The Slambovians are $20.

The series continues with acclaimed singer/songwriter and pianist Vienna Teng on Saturday, Oct. 24. Likened to Tori Amos and Norah Jones, this siren has been called “seductive and transcendent” (Amazon.com) and “singular among her peers” (Variety). Individual tickets for Teng are $25.

The trio of shows concludes with 13-time Boston Music Award-winner Ellis Paul on Thursday, Nov. 12. A critically acclaimed singer, songwriter, poet and troubadour, Paul has built a vast catalog of music which weds striking lyrical sophistication with hook-laden melodies. Individual tickets for Ellis Paul are $18.

Tickets for the fall singer/songwriter series are on sale now. The package of three shows, priced at $45, must be purchased through the box office at 888-920-ARTS (2787) or in person at the venue in Beaver Creek. Individual tickets can be purchased by phone, in person or online at http://www.vilarpac.org. The box office is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with additional hours on performance days.
