VAIL, Colorado ” Ten Vail and Beaver Creek ski instructors will attend the Professional Ski Instructors of America National Academy next month in Snowbird, Utah, thanks to locals Kent and Vicki Logan, of Vail, Colorado.

The Logans, of Vail, set up the scholarship in 2002 to allow instructors to pursue ongoing education. The 2008-2009 winner are: Charlie Baker, Lonnie Bredeson, Stephen Devlin, Dwight Dunning, Andy Gould, Justin Miller and Ana Sivack, from the Vail Snowsports School; and Howie Beck, Rob Kroeckel and Scott Loss, of the Beaver Creek Ski and Snowboard School.

“The heart and soul of Vail’s legacy is embodied in the snowsports school instructors and the incomparable experiences they provide,” said Kent Logan, a former town councilman and art collector.

Among the requirements, instructors must participate or lead instructor training.

“Many of the scholarship recipients have provided years of service and we’re confident that they will help keep our schools on the forefront of the industry,” said Dee Byrne, director of the Vail Snowsports School.
