How long has your organization been around:

Ethically Engaged Youth is preparing for its third summer of working with high school students towards understanding global citizenship and the call to the “next generation.”

What is the organization’s mission and who benefits from its work?

The mission of Ethically Engaged Youth Inc. is to inspire high school students to engage as active global citizens through full-immersion service programs. We believe that by studying through the five lenses of the organization ” political, economic, geographic, cultural, and ethical ” students can broaden their appreciation for the complexity of world issues and stimulate their moral imaginations with a vision of change. We have worked with multiple non-government organizations to rebuild New Orleans’ neighborhoods, teach hygiene and construct school facilities in India, and refurbish schools in Nepal.

Where does your funding come from?

Funding comes from grants and angel donors.

How many staff members work for you?

Trip leaders and the executive director take no salary for their work, resulting in direct savings to student fees that range between 30 to 40 percent below programs traveling to similar destinations.

Anything else you’d like the community to know about the organization?

This summer we are planning domestic programs to New Orleans and Kotzebue, Ala., and international trips to Kenya and Nepal. Our pre-trip studying begins in March, with trips leaving in June and ending with public presentations in September. Students interested in participating in the group can contact Bob Bandoni at, or Becca Hooper at If any community member is interested in speaking with Bandoni about the philosophy, direction or programming of Ethically Engaged Youth, contact him at the above e-mail address.
