What is the organization’s mission and who benefits from its work?

The Heuga Center for Multiple Sclerosis leads the way with comprehensive programs that empower people and families living with MS to transform and improve their quality of life.

With an interdisciplinary team of MS specialists, The Heuga Center’s CAN DO®, CAN DO 2® and JUMPSTART® programs teach participants how to take control of their lives and health by focusing on what they CAN DO. Participants learn how to set realistic personal goals, construct an individualized lifestyle plan and gain strategies and skills necessary to be successful in improving their lives.

Recognizing that MS is a “family disease,” the Center’s programs also educate and address the needs of support partners and family members.

Where does your funding come from?

The Heuga Center earned Charity Navigator’s highest four-star rating for our ability to efficiently manage and grow our finances.

Funding comes from diverse sources including individual contributions, corporate and foundation grants, corporate sponsorships and fundraising events like the Vertical Express for MS, Annual Autumn Benefit, Annual Heuga Center Golf Tournament, The Dusty Boot Dine Out for MS and Colorado Footwear’s Shoe Sale with Soul.

We do not receive any government funding; we rely solely on generous individuals, corporations and foundations to support our programs.

How many staff members work for you?

The Center currently employs 10 office staff members. We also have more than 100 contracted programs staff, such as neurologists, physical therapists and psychologists, across the United States as needed for programs.
