Vail Valley student wins Modern Woodmen scholarship

VAIL, Colorado “-Vail Valley student Ashley K. Atkinson, of Eagle, Colorado, won an $8,000, four-year Fraternal College Scholarship in a national competition with other student members of Modern Woodmen of America. Modern Woodmen is a fraternal benefit society offering financial services and benefits to individuals and families throughout the United States..

Atkinson, the daughter of Tom and Kristi Atkinson, plans to use the scholarship to attend the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wash.

Atkinson is one of 36 regional scholarship winners chosen this year. Selection is based on students’ personal and academic achievement, including the results of the American College Testing Program or the Scholastic Aptitude Test.
