Vail Valley to help a helping man

EAGLE-VAIL, Colorado – People from around Eagle County, Colo., are pulling together a fund-raiser for Robert Bump, a well-known acupuncturist and holistic health practitioner in the area for 20 years.Bump was recently diagnosed with colon cancer and his medical bills are adding up fast.”In collaboration with the Vail Valley Charitable Fund, Robert’s friends are raising funds to minimize Robert’s financial burden and allow him to focus on healing. Through his work at Omni Massage and Oriental Medicine, Robert has contributed to the healing of so many in our community. Now it is our turn. Please help us help Robert,” according to a press release.The fundraiser happens from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Paddy’s Sports Bar & Grill in Eagle-Vail. A $15 donation will be rewarded with a drink and free appetizers as well as entertainment and a silent auction.”We have a huge silent auction,” said Sheila Griffith, a friend of Bump. “We collected a lot of items, especially therapy items like massages, and there is a small motorcycle and a grill as well.”Griffith said Bump also taught at Colorado Mountain College and at a massage school in addition to his other practices.”He hasn’t been able to work since the beginning of summer, shortly after he was diagnosed,” she said.
