VAIL VALLEY – It took more than one UPS truck to drop off a donation from VANS to the SOS Outreach office in Colorado’s Vail Valley.

By the time the second delivery truck unloaded the final of 93 oversized boxes at the Avon office, the SOS Outreach staff couldn’t help but look forward to the winter months.

In addition to donating 1,000 helmets, VANS also donated 100 sets of protective gear.

“It’s incredible to see a donation like this, and it really highlights the commitment of VANS to making sure kids have a safe and fun time on the slopes,” said Arn Menconi, founder and executive director of SOS Outreach, which attempts to help kids in school by teaching them to ski and snowboard.

Menconi said the donation, which was spread between the SOS offices in Seattle, Denver, Avon and Frisco, ensures each student enrolled in the multi-year skiing and snowboarding programs will have a new helmet this year.
