Vail Valley: We sometimes love to hate relationships

VAIL -Loving relationships are wonderful, but as we all know, sometimes they are the thing in our lives that we sometimes love to hate. Once the falling-in-love is over and the relationship is established, conflict happens, and it takes effort keep the love alive.

That is the reason for the six-week class that begins on Monday. It will examine the three stages of relationship and how to negotiate them, why we choose the person we do and how he/she can be the key to our own growth. The class also will cover how to bring back the romance and connection, and how to be both partners can be connected with and differentiated from their partner. The core tool that will be taught is something called “intentional dialogue.”

The class is based on the work of Harville Hendrix and his wife, Helen. Together they wrote the book, “Getting the Love You Want.”

The class is being offered by Mary Lamb Lucas, a relationship therapist and psychotherapist in Edwards. She has been a therapist for over 16 years, first in Virginia and since 2006 in Colorado

The class will be held at the Vail Chapel from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for six consecutive Mondays beginning this Monday. Cost is $300 per couple. Enrollment is still possible. To find out more information, or to enroll, contact Lucas at 970-401-3600 or marylamblucas@gmail.com.
