AVON — Ever wanted to create a sick ski flick, document an important issue facing the valley or star in a variety show? Here is your chance.

Each month, Public Access TV 5 (Channel 5) offers free video production workshops at its studio in Avon so you can learn to make video for television and the Web. The workshops consist of a two-day class focused on basic camera operation, audio, lighting, cinematography and hands-on practice. The third day of workshops delves into the basics of editing with Final Cut Pro.

After completion of all three workshops, participants become certified community producers who may check out PATV5 video equipment for free and begin creating video that will air on Channel 5 and the Web.

This month, PATV5 offers workshops Monday, July 24 and July 31 from 6 to 9 p.m.

The cost for the workshops is free, and residents, nonprofits and students are welcome.
