Vail Village garage project pulled

VAIL, Colorado “-A development company that wanted to build homes and shops on the southern facade of the Vail Village parking garage in Vail, Colorado has withdrawn its application with the town.

As of Monday, the town had received 95 e-mails commenting on the plan and 94 of them opposed to the proposal by Triumph Development to build on the empty 5-acre strip of land.

The feedback is the most response the town has received on a project in recent memory, said George Ruther, the town’s community development director.

The town’s planning commission in February had recommended that the Town Council approve the developer’s request to amend the town growth policies that permit only transportation-related development in the area.

Triumph Development’s plans had called for a three- to four-story brownstone building that would include 40 to 45 for-sale, affordable homes, 20,000 to 30,000 square feet of retail, and 20,000 to 30,000 square feet of office space.
