VAIL – The arrival of springtime in the mountains heralds renewal, recharging the batteries and release for many local residents and visitors. Vail Vitality Center is hosting the perfect health-focused kick-off to the season with a one-day Spring Cleanse and Detox workshop on Saturday. The workshop features yoga, meditation, nutrition and internal cleansing, each led by a Vail Vitality Center professional. The workshop will provide participants with a day of focus on their health, including techniques that can be incorporated to maximize personal wellbeing. The workshop begins with a Vinyasa Flow style yoga practice that integrates detoxifying breath work to stimulate the digestive track, deep twists and core work to rinse impurities from the intestines, progressive back bending sequences that compress and release the kidneys, and deep hip openers to relieve lingering emotional toxicity. The yoga practice is followed by a lecture and breakfast demonstration by Eloise Nelson, PhD. Nelson will help participants learn to prepare a highly nutritious breakfast option called the “Green Detox Smoothie.” A meditation and mindful relaxation session follows breakfast, providing a good antidote to impurities in the body. This guided meditation practice will lead participants on a journey through the body, breath and mind, cultivating ease and the ability to let go.Dr. Lisa Muncy then leads participants in a discussion about the importance of detoxifying and cleansing the GI system. Muncy’s lecture focuses on overall wellbeing and participants will learn how to detoxify using whole foods, correct nutrients and probiotics. The workshop concludes with a “Lunch and Learn” session with Nelson. This discussion and demonstration will help participants learn how to support the body’s natural cleansing process and increase energy by soaking and sprouting seeds, nuts and grains. This workshop is hosted by Vail Vitality Center, a program created by the staff at Vail Mountain Lodge & Spa, which offers individual diagnostics and guided intensive regimens, tailored group retreat programs and workshop opportunities year-round.
