Vail Vitality Center set to host two yoga workshops this week
VAIL — From root to crown and earth to sky, local yogis have two upcoming opportunities to practice with Carson Efird, dedicated student of Shiva Rea and enthusiastic student and teacher of prana flow yoga. Efird leads two prana flow, energetic vinyasa-based workshops, each centered on a journey through the five elements, one today and another on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Together, the classes map the human connection to nature through the exploration of the chakra system and the larger relationship between the body and the environment.
ENERGIZE YOUR CHAKRAS
Today’s workshop, Root to Crown: A Prana Flow Adventure Rising Up Through the Chakras, is from 6 to 8 p.m.
Inspired by Efird’s mentor, Shiva Rea, this prana flow yoga sadhana invokes the energetics of the chakra system from root to crown. Starting in the root, students will plant fertile intentions close to the earth and then rise along the spine, inviting fluidity into the hips, activation in the belly and lightness in the heart, culminating a journey in the openness of the thousand petal lotus in the crown.
RHYTHMS OF NATURE
Thursday’s workshop, Earth to Sky: A Prana Flow Exploration Embodying the Elements, is from 6 to 8 p.m.
Inspired by Shiva Rea, this prana flow yoga sadhana embodies the elements from earth to sky within the landscape of individual being.
This class, a deepening of today’s workshop, elaborates on the relationship between the macro and microcosm of the body and the surrounding environment. Students physically explore how to move in time with the rhythms of nature.
‘PERFECT FOR MOUNTAIN YOGIS’
“These workshops are perfect for mountain yogis who have spent the summer outside connecting to nature and want to better understand why their outdoor pursuits elicit such a deep energetic shift for them,” said Julia Clarke, Vail Vitality Center yoga coordinator. “Carson is an exceptional teacher and not to be missed.”
