Vail’s August sales tax revenues strong

VAIL, Colorado – The town of Vail expects to collect more than $1.3 million in August sales taxes, making the month the second best August for sales tax collections in the last decade.
The town hasn’t collected more than $1.3 million in August sales taxes since 2008, when it collected $1,349,795.
The town expects to collect a total of $1,307,550 for August 2011, up 14 percent from August 2010 and up 21.7 percent from the town’s original 2011 budget.
Use tax collections, however, total $656,197, down 27 percent from last year, as of Sept. 28. Real estate transfer tax collections are down 44 percent – $2,956,110 – as of Sept. 27.
