Vail’s Chair 2 to open Wednesday
VAIL, Colorado – Vail Mountain is scheduled to open two additional lifts – the Avanti Express Lift (No. 2) and the Gopher Hill Lift (No. 12) – and portions of surrounding terrain for the 2011-12 season Wednesday, bringing the skiable terrain to more than 300 acres.Beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, skiers and snowboarders will have access to the following lifts and 21 trails or more than 300 acres of skiable terrain in these areas on Vail Mountain:• Avanti Express Lift (No. 2).• Born Free Express Lift (No. 8).• Gopher Hill Lift (No. 12).• Little Eagle Lift (No. 15).• Vista Bahn Express Lift (No. 16).• Eagle Bahn Gondola (No. 19).Skiers and snowboarders will also have access to about 10 small to medium terrain park features on Born Free. Additional terrain will open to the public as soon as conditions and weather permit.Beginning Wednesday, ticket offices in all base areas will be open. The Lionshead Adult and Children’s Ski & Snowboard School is open for all private and group lessons. The Vail Village Adult Ski & Snowboard School is currently open only for private lessons. The Small World Nursery and the Adult and Children’s Ski & Snowboard Schools will be open in Golden Peak.The Look Ma level of Mid-Vail will open on Wednesday, in addition to the Marketplace at Eagle’s Nest and Express Lift at Mountain Plaza in Vail Village.
