Vail’s Dobson Arena to hold open house Sept. 9

VAIL, Colorado – The Vail Recreation District invites the community to an open house from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Sept. 9 at Dobson Ice Arena.

The open house is to showcase youth skating programs available at the arena during the upcoming school year. During the open house, participants can enjoy free public skating, as well a free slice of pizza on a first-come, first-served basis from Pazzo’s Pizza in Vail.

A youth hockey stick ($85 value), Vail hockey sweatshirt ($30 value), registration for one fall Learn to Skate Session ($75 value) and a free private figure skating lesson ($45 value) will be raffled off during the open house and you must be present to win.

The arena is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

Registration is currently underway for the arena’s youth skating programs including Learn to Skate, Freestyle Jumps and Spins, Mini Mite and Mite Hockey. The programs are for those who either want to learn how to skate or enhance their skating skills.

The first youth skating sessions begin Sept. 14 and will take place throughout the 2009-10 school year.
