Vail’s Larkspur to host wine dinner Jan. 12

VAIL, Colorado ” Larkspur Restaurant, known for its extensive wine cellar and food and wine pairings, will host Italian winemaker Antonio Deltetto on Saturday.

Carlo Deltetto founded his winery in the early 1950s in Canale, located in the heart of the Roero area. This land of hills and rocks, woodland and vineyards, is separated from the Langhe by the river Tanaro, which acts a geological boundary between these two important wine-producing areas.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Antonio injected new vitality into the company when he joined his father at the end of the ’70s, experimenting with new winemaking and maturing processes after analyzing the latest international wineproducing techniques.

The prestigious awards Deltetto has received confirm the winery’s great commitment to the land and to its fruit and recognizes the importance of Piedmont’s ” and Italy’s ” role in the field of wine and food.

Larkspur Restaurant will offer food and wine lovers a special five-course tasting menu featuring the wines of Deltetto vineyards tonight. When the tasting menu is ordered, winemaker Antonio Deltetto, executive chef Mike Regrut, and sommelier Kevin Furtado will become an intimate part of the guests dining experience.

Reservations are recommended. Dinner service runs from 5:30 p.m. through10 p.m. The regular menu is available as well as the winemaker’s tasting menu.
