Vail’s Seibert inducted in school’s hall of fame

VAIL, Colorado ” The late Peter Seibert, founder of Vail, was inducted into his prep school’s athletic hall of fame last month.
Seibert was a member of the class of 1943 at the New Hampton School in New Hampton, N.H., where he played football and tennis.
After attending the New Hampton School, Seibert enrolled in the Army, where he served in the 10th Mountain Division during World War II. In the late ’50s and early ’60s, Seibert raised the money needed to start Vail and then led efforts to build trails, lifts and the town.
He was the first president and CEO of Vail Corporation, from 1960-65; president and CEO of Vail Associates from 1965-77; and president of the National Ski Areas Association from 1973-75.
Seibert died in 2002.
Founded in 1821, New Hampton School is a college preparatory secondary school of 330 students.
