Vail’s Steadman Hawkins hosts winemaker benefit
GOLDEN PEAK – Colorado wine connoisseurs will have a unique opportunity to taste some of the world’s finest wines and mingle with the winemaker while benefiting critical orthopedic research and education Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 29 during the Steadman Hawkins Research Foundation’s second annual Winemaker Dinner at Larkspur Restaurant in Golden Peak.Spearheaded by the Vail-based Steadman Hawkins Research Foundation, the event is priced at $500 per person, and proceeds from the evening will benefit the medical and educational research programs that help keep people physically active for life. The winemaker dinner price is all-inclusive, including tax and gratuity. Larkspur Chef Thomas Salamunovich will create a special menu to complement the featured wines from the Wagner Family, owners of Caymus Vineyards, presented by Joseph Wagner. Wines for the occasion will include: 2002 Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet, 2003 Conundrum Cabernet, 2002 Mer Soleil Chardonnay, 2002 Belle Glos Pinot Noir, 2002 Taylor Lane Pinot Noir, 1994 Caymus Special Selection Cabernet, 1997 Caymus Special Selection Cabernet, 2001 Caymus Special Selection Cabernet and 2000 Mer Soleil Late. A “First Light, First Tracks” will be offered on Vail Mountain Saturday mornign Jan. 29, allowing patrons to experience the slopes before they open to the general public.
