Vail’s Sweet Basil begins week-long school fundraiser
Vail, CO Colorado
VAIL – Vail Village’s Sweet Basil restaurant on Sunday begins its annual “Spring for your School” fundraiser, which benefits six schools in the Vail Valley.
“It’s all part of a week-long effort by Sweet Basil to support our local schools” says Matt Morgan, managing partner. “After all – those kids are our future.”
The fundraiser runs from Sunday through April 30. Each day benefits a different school. Customers who come in for lunch or dinner, and mention the school of the day, will have 35 percent of their food and beverage total donated back to that school.
“Last year we gave out over $2,000 to four selected schools” says Morgan. “This year we have added two more schools and upped the donated percentage to 35 percent.”
The schedule is:
• Sunday: Eagle County Charter Academy
• Monday: St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School
• Tuesday: Edwards Elementary School
• Wednesday: Vail Mountain School
• April 29: Red Sandstone Elementary School
• April 30: Battle Mountain High School
In this economy, Morgan says, the schools need all the help they can get to upgrade ever-changing technology and other needs within the school. For example, this year Battle Mountain High School will be using the money toward Project Graduation, which is an evening of fun to keep seniors safe on the night of their May graduation, he said.
“It always warms my heart when community members and businesses support our cause without being solicited,” says Ellen Eaton, chairwoman of Project Graduation.
During the spring, Sweet Basil is offerings $11.95 lunches and a three-course dinner for $42. For more information about Sweet Basil, or to make reservations, visit http://www.sweetbasil-vail.com or call 970-476-0125.
