Verain Stewart, 1949-2009, formerly of Gypsum
Verain Leland Stewart, of Clifton, Colo., died Jan. 8 at his home. He was 59.
Verain was born Dec. 20, 1949, in Brighton, Colo., to Claude and Barbara Johnston Stewart. He spent his childhood in Brighton until 1957 and moved to Leadville, and graduated from Leadville High School in 1968.
In 1974, he moved to Gypsum. In 1977 Verain moved to Conrad, Mont.; in 1978 to Central Point, Ore.; and back to Colorado in 1988.
On May 21, 1977, Verain married Diana Lynn Lawrence in Gypsum.
Survivors include his wife, Diana Stewart, of Clifton; parents, Claude and Barbara Stewart, of Grand Junction; a son and daughter-in-law, Leland and Amy Heistand, of Spokane, Wash.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Casaundra Stewart and Jeremy Moya, of Gypsum, and Tisha and Mike Davis, of Grand Junction; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Claude and Denise Stewart and Darren and Julie Stewart, all of Grand Junction; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Verla and Buster Orr, of Grand Junction, and Jackie and Doug Brown, of Mack, Colo.; five grandchildren, Kristoffer Robert, Hailey Paige, Lynnaya Jean, Hunter Michael and Dayton Rush; and many nieces and nephews.
His grandma and grandpa Johnston preceded him in death.
Verain loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a jack of all trades.
A memorial service will be held at Fellowship Church on Friday at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Verain Stewart Memorial Fund, at any Wells Fargo Bank.
