Veterans Day ceremony set for Wednesday
EDWARDS — On Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Edwards, the Freedom Park Memorial Committee and VFW Post 10721 will be conducting its ninth annual ceremony in honor of all veterans of the armed forces who have served the country, those from Eagle County who sacrificed their lives for freedom and those currently on active duty.
The keynote speaker will be Major Michael Halas, of the Colorado National Guard, Commander B Company, 5th Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group. The program will include a performance from the Battle Mountain High School choir, recognition of Eagle County World War II veterans, recognition of active duty service members and their families. “Taps” will be played by Gary Thornton, retired U.S. Coast Guard.
The ceremony will be held at the Freedom Park Memorial American Flag Pole Plaza in Edwards, three blocks off Interstate 70, exit 163, on Miller Ranch Road on the west side of the pond.
