Vilar Center announces fall concert series
BEAVER CREEK ” The Vilar Center has announced a series of concerts for this fall, during what locals often refer to as off season. Featuring dynamic performers ” and affordable ticket prices ” this small series of shows is intended to bring high caliber artists to the Valley in what is traditionally a culturally slow time of year.
The series kicks off with Grammy-winning guitar genius Eric Johnson on Sept. 27. The artist that Guitar Player Magazine called “one of the most respected guitar virtuosos on the planet” makes a return to the Vilar Center after playing to a full house in 2004. With a style that mixes jazz, new age and country-western elements, Johnson has carved out a niche with his unique sound. Tickets are priced at $25.
The series continues Oct. 29 with rockers Ag Silver. Rising to stardom over the last few years, this band from Michigan has gained critical and audience praise for their dynamic shows and energetic stage presence. Priding themselves on soaring melodies, smooth guitar tones, strong vocals and a solid rhythm foundation, Ag Silver consistently delivers a unique rock ‘n’ roll sound that has drawn comparison to U2, Live and Collective Soul. This ticket is priced at $15 and includes a free beer or soda at the Vilar Center prior to the show.
“Part of the reason we decided to bring these shows to the Valley at this time of year is to really gear them toward locals,” said the Vilar Center’s Kris Sabel. “For a lot of people, it’s a time of year when things aren’t so busy, but also, maybe, the cash flow is a little lower as well. So we hope to offer great shows at affordable prices so everyone can come out and enjoy some amazing music throughout the fall.”
Sabel also reminded audiences that this fall series is in addition to the fantastic summer and winter offerings at the Vilar Center.
“These shows fall between our summer series, which concludes September 13 with comedian Craig Shoemaker, and the beginning of our winter series, which we are still confirming but will kick off in November,” he said. “So this is sort of a short, but really great, lineup that will carry the offerings at the Vilar through the off season.”
Additional acts are still being confirmed for the fall concert series, including decorated singer/songwriter Jackie Green on Dec. 1, among others.
Tickets for Eric Johnson and Ag Silver are on sale now and can be purchased at the box office or by calling 845-TIXS(8497) or visiting http://www.vilarcenter.org. The full lineup will be posted on http://www.vilarcenter.org as it is confirmed. The Vilar Center is a project of the Vail Valley Foundation.
