Vilar Center in Beaver Creek announces holiday lineup

BEAVER CREEK — The Vilar Performing Arts Center announced its annual holiday season lineup. Single tickets to all of the events in this line-up are on sale now at the Vilar Performing Arts Center Box Office (970-845-8497/ Show times vary.

“It’s truly special to celebrate the holidays with your family in the mountains, and the Vilar Center is honored to be a part of that tradition offering great cultural and entertainment opportunities that everyone can enjoy,” said Vilar Center Executive Director Kris Sabel. “The programming this year is a combination of traditional favorites as well as new shows like Trombone Shorty. Check back because we are looking to add one more great family show on December 30th.”

The holiday lineup kicks off with five-time Grammy Award winning artist Michael McDonald. A favorite of the Vail Valley, McDonald is coming to the Vilar Center with his special holiday show, “This Christmas – An Evening of Holiday and Hits” on Dec. 22 at 7:30 p.m. This family-friendly concert features favorite hits as well as classic holiday tunes.

The Nebraska Theatre Caravan’s “A Christmas Carol” is set for Dec. 23 at 6:30 p.m. Witness a Broadway caliber performance featuring 24 actors, live music, gorgeous scenery and costumes. Bring the whole family and celebrate this wonderful Dickens tradition with Tiny Tim, The Cratchits and that surly Scrooge.

Keep the season funky with the next performer, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, on Dec. 26 at 7:30 p.m. Get on down the day after Christmas when this hard-edged funk band that employs hip-hop beats, rock and improvisation in a jazz tradition takes the stage.

The Vilar Center world premiere of “Cirque Mechanics: Pedal Punk” returns for three performances on Dec. 27 and 28. In “Pedal Punk,” the whole family will experience the excitement, artistry and thrill of a rowdy circus show where the mischief is on wheels.

After last year’s sellout of “100 Years of Broadway,” Neil Berg’s all new “101 Years of Broadway” show comes to the Vilar Center stage on Dec. 29 at 7:30 p.m. Direct from New York City, Broadway’s brightest stars will take audiences on a journey through Broadway classics with the legendary music of Kander & Ebb (“Chicago,” “Cabaret”), Rodgers & Hammerstein (“The Sound of Music,” “South Pacific”), Stephen Sondheim (“Gypsy,” “West Side Story”) and more.

Keep the holiday love rockin’ and rollin’ into the new year when the Vilar Center welcomes Super Diamond: The Neil Diamond Tribute on Jan. 2.
