Vino tasting in Vail today

VAIL, Colorado- Stop by the Wine Shop at Marketplace on Meadow Drive today during the Farmers’ Market to sample some of the staff’s favorite wines. Between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. you can sample the Anselmi 2010 Pinot Grigio and the Vega Sindoa 2008 Cabernet.

In addition, the wine shop is having its September sale. Purchase any wine, beer or spirit and receive a second one of the same or lesser value at half price. Offer valid until Sept. 30 in the Marketplace Wine Shop only. This offer cannot be combined with any other offers.

The first featured wine is the 2010 Anselmi Pinot Grigio from Italy. This is one of the great, quality wineries in northeast Italy. Ettore Anselmi first planted vines in 1937 after he bought land outside the town of Pocenia in the heart of sunny Friuli. The gravel and sandy soils are a great home for the indigenous variety Pinot Grigio. Today brothers Giuseppe and Luigi Anselmi continue the family estate. This wine is known to be very expressive, full of apples and scents of white flowers and minerality.

The second feature this weekend is the 2008 Vega Sindoa Cabernet Sauvingnon from Spain. This attractively priced Cab displays scents of red currant, cherry pit, tobacco and dried flowers. This vineyard is located in the Navarra region of Spain. Most of its vineyards are located on the rolling lower slopes of the Pyrenees, which separate Spain from France.

The Wine Shop at Marketplace on Meadow Drive features a wide selection of wines ranging from daily table varieties to collector vintages. The Wine Shop also provides spirits and a wide array of international and domestic beers.
