Volunteers sought for New Year’s celebration

Daily staff report

The annual Youth New Year’s Eve Celebration held each year at Dobson Arena is currently recruiting adult volunteers ages 21 and over who’d like to ring in the New Year at “Y04” – one of the most progressive celebrations in town.Y04 offers 1,000 youth from high school through age 20 a safe celebration on New Year’s Eve. However, without the outpouring of support received from the Vail community the event could not happen. This season, Vail Resorts, the Town of Vail, Eagle County and many other sponsors have teamed with the Vail Recreation District to revive this extraordinary event that was held from 1984 to 2000. After addressing public safety issues in Vail’s core, the community is ready to bring back this special celebration for youth under 21.As always, nearly 100 adult volunteers are needed to serve as casino dealers, bankers, cashiers, game operators and other positions. In return for your time, you will receive dinner, a gift from Aria Spa & Club, training for their position, and entry into a prize raffle full of great prizes and gift certificates oh yes, and the added bonus of waking on New Year’s Day without a headache. Volunteer hours are from 6 pm on December 31 until 12:30 am.Please call VRD Youth Services at 479-2292 to sign up.
