Volunteers treated to picnic
Special to the Daily
The rain held off as some of the ladies and gentlemen who help keep the Vail Valley Medical Center up and running celebrated with a summer picnic.
The annual Volunteer Corps picnic was held at the Singletree Pavilion this past week. And, as it is every year, the food was bountiful and satisfying. Each year, the hospital donates the filets and marinated chicken breasts. It’s good to know that if you’re stuck in the hospital, the food is darn good!
Volunteer president Andy Searls welcomed the guests, which included folks who came in from out of town to be at the event.
The volunteer corps serves a vital function in the medical center, providing services, such as: manning the information desk at both the Vail Valley Medical Center and the Shaw Regional Cancer Center; running the Vail Valley Medical Center gift shop; assisting in the emergency room at Vail Valley Medical Center and Beaver Creek emergency department in the winter months; providing assistance in the patient care unit and leading tours.
This coming spring the volunteer corps will also be hosting the third Neiman Marcus Fashion Show and Luncheon, which will be held on April 6 at the Vail Marriott Mountain Lodge and Spa.
The event adds a new twist with a special champagne preview night and private shopping experience the evening before the luncheon.
