Voytek visits Vail Fine Art Saturday

Daily staff report
VAIL CO, Colorado

Artist Voytek Glinkowski, who goes by his first name Voytek only, will visit Vail Fine Art Gallery in Vail on Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m.

“The light, emotion and thoughtful response evoked in Voytek’s sketches and paintings show the touch of a true master,” said Gretchen Greene of Vail Fine Art.

Voytek was born in Poland, and attended the National College of Fine Arts in Lodz.

“I am ready to combat mediocrity using any weapons available,” Voytek said.

This fervent attitude spills into all aspects of his life, rich with family, friends, students and of course an endless stream of canvases. He is also a writer of stories and epigrams, and even has a screenplay in his repertoire. But the artist is also known in the world of competitive cycling, skiing and tennis.

Voytek’s conviction is that “In each of the studied regions of the world the canon of beauty has been the same and is contained within one thing – symmetry. In art it means balance, equipoise. In painting – to make it more concrete – it means, for example, the search for quantity and quality of color red in the right corner, which should counterbalance the patch of purple, which exists in the left corner. And all this must be included in the four corners of canvas, meaning in a new universe created by an artist. There is nothing beyond the four corners of canvas.”
