VT Ski Areas hopeful for 4m visits this season
RUTLAND, Vt. – The Vermont Ski Areas Association is hopeful the just-ending ski season will surpass last year’s 4 million skier visits.
Despite warm weather at the beginning and end of the season, Vermont areas enjoyed good midwinter conditions and had strong showings on Christmas and New Year’s, the Martin Luther King holiday and Presidents Week.
Ski Areas President Parker Riehle tells the Rutland Herald the industry is optimistic this year will come in ahead of last year.
Riehle says even though there weren’t many big ticket snowstorms, mountain temperatures remained favorable.
The association will release its final report on the 2009-2010 skier visit totals in June.
