Wanted man arrested on drug charge, Avon police say

AVON, Colorado ” An Avon, Colorado man suspected of being an illegal immigrant was arrested for drug possession Monday when police went to his house to arrest him on another drug warrant, Avon police say.

Avon Police Officer Aurion Hassinger went to the home of Guadalupe Rascon-Chavez, 25, of Avon to serve an arrest warrant for the distribution of dangerous drugs, Avon police say.

During a search of his room that Rascon-Chavez consented to, Hassinger found cocaine in a box inside the man’s boots, Avon police say.

The box contained five, one-gram packages of cocaine, a digital scale and a measuring spoon, Avon police say.

Cocaine package in four, one-gram bags and forged permanent resident card and $5,565 was found elsewhere in Rascon-Chavez’s room, Avon police say. –

Guadalupe Rascon-Chavez was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to distribute a schedule II narcotic, possession of Schedule II narcotic and possession of a forged instrument. He was also booked for the outstanding warrant.-

Rascon-Chavez is currently in custody at the Eagle County Jail and has an Immigration Customs Enforcement hold, which means he is suspect of being an illegal immigrant.
