Wanted: Owners of $50M in unclaimed Colorado propery
DENVER, Colorado ” Colorado is looking for nearly 80,000 people who lost or forgot more than $50 million worth of stuff.
State Treasurer Cary Kennedy said Tuesday that’s what’s been added to the state database of unclaimed property over the past year.
Kennedy says the state now holds a total of more than $450 million that belongs to more than 1 million people.
A searchable database is at http://www.greatcopayback.com. A list of the newly added people due $50 or more will be published in The Denver Post on Sunday.
Kennedy says the state returned more than $22 million last year and is on pace to return nearly $30 million this year. The $22 million was a record.
Kennedy says there is no charge and no time limit to reclaim property.
