Water and Sanitation agency working on odor

Daily Staff Report

VAIL The Eagle River Water and Sanitation District, which treats wastewater from East Vail to Cordillera, is $4 million on upgrades at its three plants. We are constantly maintaining and upgrading our wastewater treatment facilities to ensure that we continue to meet health regulations and provide the best service possible to our customers, said Steve Wilson, the districts director of operations.Air handling and odor control systems will be upgraded at the plants in Vail, Avon and Edwards. Wilson said the plant has received complaints about odor at the Edwards treatment plant. We knew we needed to improve the odor control systems at Edwards, Wilson said. The odor levels people have noticed of late are actually due to the construction of the improvements to the plant. It was one of those situations where it had to get a little worse while installing the components to make it better.Work at all three plants is scheduled to be complete by mid-summer of this year.
