Watercolor workshop will be offered in Vail Valley

Vail Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado
Special to the Vail Daily"Leaves," by Kathie Neal, who will teach a watercolor workshop in the Vail Valley next month.

VAIL VALLEY, Colorado –The Vail Valley’s Alpine Arts Center will host a three-day workshop featuring Arizona artist Kathie Neal on June 5-7 in Edwards, Colo. Neal is known throughout the Vail Valley for her watercolor workshops and her ability to teach students of any level how to paint beautifully with watercolors.

For the past few years, Neal’s annual workshop has filled quickly. Neal teaches several watercolor classes weekly in Arizona and she has taught workshops around the United States for the past 14 years. Neal is past president and signature member of Contemporary Watercolorist of Arizona, and juried member of Arizona Artist Guild and Arizona Watercolor Association. She has been awarded “best of show,” and has also watched her students win awards.

“I love teaching nearly as much as painting,” she said. “I view the world with a sense of wonder and awe.”

On the first day of the workshop, Neal will introduce guaze and skeleton leaves, producing a beautiful work of art like the example pictured. On day two she will teach how to paint on surfaces other than paper, and day three will present more traditional watercolor techniques. Alpine Arts Center is offering a summer special for this kick-off workshop, priced at $200 for all three days.
