Waterwise Wednesday is this week in Eagle
Vail, CO Colorado
EAGLE, Colorado – The Eagle River Watershed Council is hosting a Water Wise Wednesday social this March 28 at the Dusty Boot in Eagle.
Tambi Katieb, policy and planning director for the Eagle River Watershed Council. and Cliff Simonton, senior planner for Eagle County, will informally discuss the update to the 1996 Eagle River Watershed Plan. Most people don’t know what a watershed plan is or how it serves as a valuable guidance document for our area. This Wednesday, learn how the new watershed plan will be outlining a collaborative, local philosophy for protecting and improving water quantity, water quality, wildlife habitat and recreational opportunities, and promoting compatible land use practices.
Two years ago, Eagle County and the Watershed Council decided it was time to update this community plan based on the number of issues and threats facing the Eagle River basin as our community has continued to expand and grow. Many entities have become directly involved in watershed protection since 1996, and the plan will not only recognize these new conservation efforts but strategize new approaches to promoting smart growth that takes care of our treasured resource.
The update process is slowly wrapping up, and has included input from various agencies, natural resource managers, property owners, business owners and concerned individuals.
