Weather Channel crew to visit Vail
VAIL – The Vail Valley will get a dose of national TV exposure this month, when the Weather Channel’s Road Crew comes to town.
Host Jeff Mielcarz will be in the area Tuesday through Feb. 10 to tape segments of the program, which highlights different areas of the country and how weather affects the people who live there.”It’s a fun aspect of the Weather Channel,” said spokeswoman Kathy Lane. “It’s a bit of an armchair travel thing, where Jeff talks about aspects of the area that are weather-affected and they go to different landmarks in the area.”The Road Crew recently finished a stint in San Diego, where Lane said Mielcarz went up in a hot-air balloon that crash-landed. This week, taping is taking place in Park City and Salt Lake City, Utah.
For Vail, she said, the Road Crew will no doubt make a visit to the ski hill as well as other locations yet to be determined. In Utah, the show was doing segments on snowboarding, ski kiting and avalanche control.Within a week to 10 days after the taping, the segments will start appearing in snippets on the Weather Channel, Lane said. They’ll run for about five days on the channel’s “Evening Edition” and “Weekend View” programs.
