Weather delays utility project on Vail’s frontage road

Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado – April snows have pushed water utility work in Vail into the week of April 25.

Late season snowstorms have caused daily delays to the work occurring along South Frontage Road in Vail between Ford Park’s eastern parking lot and Vail Valley Drive since the project began on April 18.

A utility box and associated equipment is being installed and connected to the water distribution system as part of Eagle River Water and Sanitation District upgrades to the Vail public water system. The project includes installation of additional piping, remote water quality analyzers, and upgraded equipment at seven sites throughout Vail and is required to comply with the Environmental Protection Agency’s new Ground Water Rule regulations.

Single-lane closures of South Frontage Road for about one-half mile within the project area will continue April 25 for several days until the work is completed. Traffic control measures are in place, with flaggers to direct traffic around the closed lane.
