Weld Republican says Ritter blew off the county
GREELEY, Colorado ” A Republican official says Democratic Gov. Bill Ritter blew off Weld County during a groundbreaking ceremony for two new wind turbine factories.
County Commissioner Sean Conway says Ritter never once mentioned Weld County in his 4-minute speech at the Vestas Wind Systems site at the southern end of the county.
Conway says the slight was deliberate. He told the Greeley Tribune, “The governor has been doing this for a long time.”
Ritter’s spokesman, Evan Dreyer, responded that Ritter is proud to work with Weld County residents. He says Ritter is trying to create jobs, “not to massage politicians’ egos.”
Conway worked for Republican U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard as press secretary, state director and chief of staff. He also worked for Republican U.S. Sen. Bill Armstrong.
