West Slope: Dog food closed I-70 for 9 hours
PALISADE, Colorado Scattered dog food forced a nearly nine-hour closure of Interstate 70 westbound near Palisade early Sunday.Alfred Clebsch, 57, of Sterling, was westbound on I-70 at mile maker 43 around 1:55 a.m. when his 1997 Peterbilt truck collided with a guardrail and rolled on its left side before sliding to a stop in the westbound lane, according to a Colorado State Patrol accident report.The report said Clebschs truck was pulling a utility semi-trailer loaded with dog food, which partially spilled on the roadway.Westbound I-70 was closed and traffic was rerouted through Palisade as crews cleaned the area.Westbound I-70 traffic was moving again by 10:30 a.m.Clebsch suffered minor injuries and was treated at St. Marys Hospital. He was wearing a seatbelt.The State Patrol said Clebsch was cited and speed was a contributing factor in the accident.
