Western Slope wildfire continues to grow
The Denver Post
The Grammar fire, which has burned into the Deer Mesa subdivision 5 miles northwest of Norwood, has grown to 875 acres this afternoon.
The subdivision has been evacuated, and bulldozers and aircraft are currently fighting to save 20 structures, said Steve Segin, spokesman for the inter-agency Rocky Mountain Area Coordination Center.
Segin said four “hot shot” crews are on the scene as well as four heavy air tankers, two single-engine air tankers and two heavy helicopters.
More than 100 firefighters from the Bureau of Land Management, the U.S. Forest Service and Montrose County are at the fire.
