What about a fire station?
WEST VAIL – While private property owners are planning several projects in West Vail, the town government has a project of its own bubbling along.Construction on a fire station in West Vail could start as soon as 2007, and a plan is working its way through the town’s bureaucracy. The Vail Town Council recently approved a land use plan for a piece of property it owns behind the Wendy’s in West Vail. That plan includes a fire station, housing, and, maybe, some retail and commercial space. The land now has to be re-zoned so it’s all legal, said town spokeswoman Suzanne Silverthorn. Besides the re-zoning, the Town Council must decide whether to build a fire station first or build everything at once, she said. After all the planning decisions are made, the town then has to find money in the budget to put firefighters and equipment into a new station. That’s probably going to have to wait until several other projects in Vail Village and Lionshead are finished and there’s money in the town’s budget.Vail, Colorado
