What are Vail’s snow-removal policies?

Daily Staff Report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL ” While town crews plow Vail’s roads this winter, residents also have a job to do when it comes to removing snow.

Town law says:

– Homeowners and residents are responsible for maintaining their own driveways, parking areas and sidewalks following a snow storm.

– Private snowplow drivers are required to obtain a license from the town’s Public Works Department at 1309 Elkhorn Drive.

– Snowplows are not allowed to push or plow snow into public roadways, including snow-melt surfaces in Vail Village or Lionshead.

– All vehicles are prohibited from parking on streets or shoulders.

Following a snowstorm, roads that lead to the hospital, schools, commercial areas and the ski area are plowed by 8 a.m. with other residential streets plowed by 9 a.m.

For more information, contact Charlie Turnbull in the town’s Public Works Department at 477-3425 or 390-3008.
