Wed all rather be with our families than go to work, at least most days.Its helpful when our employers feel the same way.For folks working with two Vail Valley companies, its official that they do.Investment firm Edward Jones and construction company R.A. Nelson were the only regional firms named as Colorados Best Places to Work by Colorado Biz magazine.Edward Jones topped the large-company category. R.A. Nelson was in the top 10 in the midsize category.Tina DeWitt, an Edwards-based investment representative for Edward Jones, has been with the firm almost two years.They place so much emphasis on the healthy balance between family and work, DeWitt said. Their commitment is to taking care of the client. Theres never a conflict of interest because we dont have proprietary products to offer.Some firms have their own products to offer, which may generate more commission and income for the investment adviser but may not be in the clients best interest. Edward Jones has no such products.We are able to offer the best investment to the client that meets their particular needs and comfort level, DeWitt said.
The financial services firm Edward Jones was named the No. 1 large company in Colorado to work for by Colorado Biz magazine.Colorado Biz magazine got together with the Best Companies Group of Harrisburg, Pa., and several local and regional human-resources firms and groups to do the competition. The 25 finalist companies were divided into medium- and large-company categories based on the number of people they employ in Colorado. Edward Jones was ranked No. 1 among the 13 large companies that made the finals.The survey was devised by a group called ModernThink, a firm that partners with companies to help build a productive, innovative and profitable culture. It was administered by Best Companies Group.The survey was 65 questions that focused on workplace and organizational performance. All answers were returned to ModernThink anonymously.R.A. Nelsons employee response rate was over 80 percent, well above the average statewide response rate of 61 percent.Rankings were based on company practices and an anonymous survey of employees. The workers were asked about dozens of their companies practices, teamwork and their individual experiences with the company. Colorado Biz tabulated the results, including other factors such as flex time.Edward Jones got high marks for its professional development program, mentoring program and structure as a partnership owned by the local associates.Edward Jones has 221 branches across Colorado, including Tina DeWitts office in Edwards and Charlie Wicks office in Eagle.
Not only does its brokers like the company; Edward Jones clients do, too.For the second straight year, Edward Jones was ranked highest in full-service investor satisfaction, according to the J.D.. Power and Associates 2006 Full Service Investor Satisfaction Survey.The survey found that strong customer-service-representative performance, convenience, account setup/offerings, account statements, and product and service offerings combined with investment performance pushed Edward Jones to the top.As a firm, all of us are committed to providing outstanding client service, James D. The honor comes to R.A. Nelson on the anniversary of the companys 30th year in business. It is the only business headquartered in the mountain region to receive the honor. Edward Jones is headquartered in St. Louis and has offices all over the world.According to the data collected, R.A. Nelson is seen by its employees as an organization that they are proud to be a part of. The survey found they would recommend working there to family and friends.Employees said they understand the companys mission and strategic goals and also understand how their jobs contribute to the organizations success. An overwhelming percentage of R.A. Nelsons workers surveyed said that they would go beyond what is required of them to help R.A. Nelson become even more successful. Additionally, the R.A. Nelson staff feel they are given the responsibility and freedom to get their jobs done and at the same time are given the flexibility to manage their personal lives.Some other perks of employment at R.A.
