When will these Vail projects be done?

VAIL, Colorado ” Here is an update of major construction projects happening in the town of Vail.

Excavation and concrete pouring continue on site, said Craig Cohn, director of sales and leasing for Solaris.

Peter Knobel’s Solaris project will have 77 condos, a three-screen movie theater, a 10-lane bowling alley, stores, restaurants and an ice rink/public plaza. It was approved by Vail voters in July 2006, and is supposed to be completed in the winter of 2009-10.

Workers are pouring concrete for the third floor. The concrete is completed on the first and second floors. Boiler and mechanical equipment are being installed. The construction offices will soon be moved to the first floor of the building.

The Four Seasons will have 120 hotel rooms, 16 condos and 19 “fractional” units. The site is just southwest of the main Vail roundabout and will include a restaurant, a spa and stores. It is supposed to be completed in late 2009.

Workers are doing wall framing, drywall work and some trim work, said Tye Stockton of Ron Byrne and Associates.

The new building will have nine “fractional” units and nine condos. The Willows is supposed to be completed later this year. The Willows is west of Checkpoint Charlie in Vail Village.

When the ski season is over, work will continue on the streetscape project between the Landmark and the Arrabelle. Some exterior work will also happen this spring, Fernandez said. Interior work continues on the condos, 18 of which have already closed.

The Arrabelle has 66 condos, 36 hotel rooms, a spa, meeting rooms, a restaurant, locker rooms, offices, stores, parking and a loading dock. The stores, including Burton, Vail Sports, Patagonia, Quiksilver and Starbucks, are open. The restaurants are Blue Moose Pizza, Centre V, the Vail Chophouse and Rimini, a sweets shop.

Work on the Vail Mountain Club will continue through April, said Keith Fernandez of the Vail Resorts Development Company, and the club is expected to open in the fall. Work will continue through the spring on the Avanyu spa at the Lodge at Vail, Fernandez said.

The first of the chalets are expected to be completed in July. The last chalets will be completed early next year, Fernandez said.

Vail Resorts’ Front Door includes 13 townhomes, a skier services building, a private club, a loading dock, an underground garage, a spa and an addition to the Lodge at Vail. The project is located at the base of Vail Mountain in Vail Village.

Excavation work continues, and workers have moved on to shoring and foundation work, Fernandez said. The project is supposed to be completed in August 2010.

Vail Resorts’ Ritz-Carlton Residences are in Lionshead at the corner of South Frontage and West Forest roads, next to the Vail Marriott. It will have 71 condos, and 46 were sold as of earlier this month.

A groundbreaking for this project, at the Lionsquare North building at the Lionsquare Lodge, was Friday. This summer, the project will add on to existing condos and add a new exterior to the building. Next summer, work will include the construction of two new towers, which will include nine new condos.

Work on the Landmark should start in the next two or three weeks, said Hillary McSpadden of Forbes Sotheby’s International Realty. The project is going to add 17 condos to the complex. Both of the existing buildings will get a new exterior, and there will also be a new clocktower between the two buildings. The project is supposed to be completed by early 2010.

The Landmark is in Lionshead, above Billy’s Island Grill, North Face, the General Store and One Track Mind.

The project calls for a redo of the exterior of the buildings and 17 new condos. There also will be additional underground parking and a new swimming pool. A phased completion is targeted for this summer and fall.

The Vail Mountainview Residences on Gore Creek is being built on the site of Apollo Park near Ford Park. The project will have 24 condos. It’s supposed to be done late this year.
