Who’s playing in Beaver Creek this summer?
BEAVER CREEK, Colorado As the 10th anniversary season at the Vilar Performing Arts Center comes to a close, I want to thank our community for supporting the theatre over the last incredible six months. Its thanks to the support of our donors and ticket buyers that that we are able to have a venue like the Vilar Center available to our community and our guests. The final public performances included blues legend B.B. King last night and Dark Star Orchestra tonight. We also have the final show in our STARS (Support the Arts Reaching Children) educational series on April 25. Throughout the year, this program provided opportunities for over 6,000 local students to experience the wonder and beauty of the performing arts. Teddy Roosevelt and the Treasure of Ursa Major rounds out what has been a stellar year for the STARS program. In the summer we focus on presenting popular music concerts. We believe this provides a perfect balance to the already terrific classical music and dance programs offered by the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival and the Vail International Dance Festival. These festivals hold performances at both the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheatre and the Vilar Performing Arts Center. While the final lineup wont be announced until the end of April, I can give you some highlights of the performers who are already confirmed for this summer: June 29: Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Richard Marx and Vertical Horizons Matt Scannell.July 12: Grammy Award-winning, triple platinum country music sensation Clint Black.July 17: Legendary country music Hall of Famer Emmylou Harris.July 23: A tribute to one of the most popular bands of all time with The Music of Abba.Aug. 11: Four time Grammy Award-winning rocker Pat Benatar with guitarist Neil Giraldo.Sept. 1: American gospel and soul legend Al Green. As we confirm additions to this exciting lineup, well post them on our terrific new website at vilarpac.org. We also encourage you to join our email list (signup available at http://www.vilarpac.org) so you can be the first to hear about confirmations, additions and on-sale dates. Thanks again for a terrific season and I look forward to seeing you this summer at the theater.
