Why haven’t you joined Bach on the Rocks?

Carolyn Pope

If you’re not a member of Bach on the Rocks, I have only one question. Why not?Bach on the Rocks is Bravo’s young professional group. “Young,” however, is a casual term. If you view yourself as young, I’m sure you qualify. Having fun, however, is not optional. “BOTR is a great alternative social outlet for young professionals in the Vail Valley,” says Liana Moore, a Bravo staff member as well as board member of Bach on the Rocks. The group was formed in 2003 with a goal to develop the young community’s interest in classical music, as well as to provide a sophisticated social outlet for local young professionals to network with peers. Before the opening night of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the group descended upon Terra Bistro and mastered the art of mingling. Many other events are penned in on their calendar, including a reception on July 8 hosted by Slifer, Smith and Frampton and Masters Gallery; a pre-concert reception at Claggett-Rey Gallery on July 15; a reception at La Tour on July 23 and an end of the year party at the Ritz-Carlton in Bachelor Gulch. Also, members get $10 off on a bottle of wine at each concert, and special discounts at West Vail Liquors. Not a true classical music connoisseur? No problem. You’ll meet new people and learn to appreciate the music performed by the extraordinary talents of the musicians who grace our valley.”Part of the purpose of the group is to educate people about classical music,” Moore said. One special event on July 20 is an intimate “soiree” of chamber music geared toward the desires of a younger group. This year, the soiree will be held at the home of Deb and Trey Warren in Singletree (quite a home, I’ll add) and features an informal concert by the Hyperion String Quartet. The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions directly of the musicians. The ticket price for the soiree is $35 for Bach on the Rocks members and $50 for non-members. Bach on the Rocks is growing and now has about 250 members. With the perks involved, its tough to go wrong – you receive lawn seating at all of the concerts at Gerald R. Ford Amphitheatre (a $357 value) and the line-up of social events seems never-ending, for only $125. So, I ask you again, why haven’t you joined? ==========================================To learn moreFor more information about Bach on the Rocks, call 877-812-5700 or e-mail ticketing@vailmusicfestival.org.==========================================Vail, Colorado
