Will SnowBall festival return to Avon?
May 23, 2012
AVON – Town Council members Tuesday got their first look at some numbers from the SnowBall Music Festival in March.
Among the facts in the brief report:
• The festival drew about 30,000 people.
• According to a survey of 599 concert-goers, those who came to Avon were overwhelmingly young – 95 percent were between 18 and 34 years old.
• About half of those surveyed reported an annual income of $25,000 or less.
If there was a surprise in the report, it came in the staff introduction from Meryl Jacobs, the town’s director of recreation.

Jacobs wrote that town staff “…has been advised that the event producer is considering alternative venues but has not ruled out Avon as a potential site for 2013.”
But the report from the event promoters stated they “…hope to continue bringing this unique event to Avon.. for years to come.”
Council members, who were about to dive into a two-hour hearing on the Traer Creek lawsuit settlement, didn’t have much to say about the report, but council member Amy Phillips said the report seemed short on information.
The council will receive a more detailed report at its June 12 meeting.
