Winslow Road closure expected
Vail, CO Colorado
EDWARDS, Colorado ” The Winslow Road underpass will be closed in the next month for an improvement project.
The Singletree entrance, which goes under Interstate 70, will be widened. The project will also add a bike lane, and plowed-snow storage, drainage, lighting and side-railing.
It still hasn’t been decided exactly when and how long the road will be closed, but construction is expected to start in early October, said Berry Creek Metro District President Don Cohen.
“It is expected that within the next couple of weeks a definitive construction schedule will be finalized that will include information on when and how long the underpass will be shut down,” he said.
Planners discussed completely closing the road so as to get the work done faster.
Partial closures might make the work drag on through the winter and next year, Cohen said.
Either way, the goal is to get the work done quickly.
“It was clear that communication from the project managers to the Singletree community is a top priority,” Cohen said.
The project has required cooperation from the Colorado Department of Transportation, county staff engineers, the county road and bridge department, cable companies and the metro district.
