Winter Storm Warning for Eagle County for Jan. 5-6

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado ” The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a winter storm warning, in effect from 6 a.m. Jan. 5 to 6 p.m. Jan. 6.
A powerful winter storm will bring heavy snow and strong winds to the mountains of northeast Utah and western Colorado beginning on Saturday.
Significant snowfall of 1 to 2 feet late Sunday afternoon will occur over the warned area.
Strong southwest winds in excess of 40 mph are expected, with gusts over the exposed areas and ridges tops reaching 80 mph. This will result in blowing and drifting snow with near whiteout conditions.
A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
