Winter storm warning in effect through Tuesday
Vail, CO Colorado
EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado – A deep low pressure system moving in from the Washington coast likely means more snow for Vail, Beaver Creek and the valley in the coming days.
The National Weather Service in Grand Junction issued a winter storm warning for the area early Saturday morning, which continues through Tuesday morning.
The storm is expected to drop 1 to 2 feet of snow in the mountains, with south-facing slopes reaching 3 to 4 feet of snow accumulations, according to the warning.
Strong winds are expected through Sunday night, with gusts expected to reach 45 to 55 miles per hour.
A National Weather Service winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow are expected and strong winds and blowing snow are also possible. Visibility throughout the mountains in eastern Utah and western Colorado is expected to be poor, especially on high mountain passes, because of the winds.
The heaviest snowfall is expected through Sunday night, with periods of snow continuing through Wednesday.
