Winter storm warning issued for Vail from Thursday through Saturday

VAIL — The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Vail area, in effect from noon Thursday to midnight Saturday.

Snow will develop Thursday morning and become widespread by afternoon, becoming heavy at times and continuing through Saturday, the weather service said.

About 8 to 12 inches are expected, with 18 inches forecasted for west-facing peaks

Vail Pass will be icy and snowpacked, the warning said.

The warning includes Vail, Aspen and Crested Butte.
