Snow guns sit idle on Golden Peak, Monday, in Vail.

VAIL — The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the Vail area from Wednesday night through Thursday night.

Forecasters are calling for 5 to 10 inches of snow for the area, with up to a foot at the highest elevations.

Snow is expected to begin after midnight Wednesday, increasing through Thursday, then tapering off Thursday night.

Expect hazardous driving over Vail Pass.

Vail announced Tuesday it would delay its opening to Nov. 25 following weeks of dry, warm weather.
